First the craft of stone, hammered, chiseled from the rock that once bound them. Then the quickening magic of the Tower wizards brings them to life and purpose – as guardians of the Tower.  Indeed, the watchful eyes of the gargoyles watch sleeplessly, day and night, through every season, scanning every glen and glade, each pathway and furrow, for dangers of any kind.  Such gaze ensures than none might ever approach the Tower without the gargoyles first giving warning.  When roused to alarm the gargoyles are ever quick to take wing, then with hearts of stone, to rend the foe with tooth and claw.
